Newstars Futbol Academy (NFA) is committed to developing elite soccer players through a structured pathway that aligns with Canada’s Provincial, Territorial, and National development frameworks. NFA provides high-quality coaching, competitive opportunities, and exposure to advanced levels of play, ensuring athletes can progress from grassroots to national and collegiate environments.

Grassroots & Development Stage

At the foundational level, NFA offers introductory soccer programs for players of all ages and skill levels. These programs align with Canada Soccer’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model, emphasizing enjoyment, movement skills, inclusivity, and technical growth.

Active Start (U4–U6)

Children are introduced to the game through fun, engaging activities that prioritize ball touches, movement, and confidence-building.

FUNdamentals (U6–U9)

Players develop essential movement and early soccer skills. NFA focuses on technical foundations in a positive environment to prepare athletes for structured training.

Learn to Train (U9–U12)

Players begin refining core techniques and understanding basic game principles. NFA’s Representative Program begins at U9, emphasizing ball mastery, agility, coordination, tactical awareness, and decision-making.

Train to Train (U12–U15)

This stage introduces advanced training methods and higher-level competition. NFA’s High Performance Program includes outdoor soccer, fitness training, mobility work, and game analysis, supporting holistic player development.

Train to Compete (U15–U18)

Athletes focus on maximizing performance. NFA’s competitive teams and advanced training sessions prepare players for elite youth competition, provincial identification, and opportunities with senior-level programs.

Provincial & Territorial Pathway Alignment

NFA follows Ontario Soccer’s Talented Pathway and is committed to providing players with opportunities for advancement into Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program, which identifies athletes for potential national-level selection.

Through participation in sanctioned leagues, showcases, and tournaments, NFA players receive exposure to provincial scouts and technical staff. The club’s relationships with League1 Ontario organizations offer players a bridge into semi-professional, professional, and collegiate pathways.

National Pathway Integration

NFA provides a clear pathway for players aspiring to reach Canada Soccer’s National Development Centres (NDCs)and National Youth Teams (U15–U20).

Players demonstrating exceptional potential may progress to:

  • National Development Centres (NDC)
  • Canada Soccer National Youth Excel (NYE) Program
  • Canadian U15–U20 National Teams
    Competing in CONCACAF and FIFA international competitions.
