Introduction

Newstars Futbol Academy (NFA) is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for every child involved in our programs. This Code of Conduct reflects NFA’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of child protection and aligns with Canada Soccer’s safe sport guidelines. Our priority is ensuring the well-being and safety of all young athletes who train, play, and grow within our academy.

Guiding Principles

  • The safety and welfare of every child is the top priority.
  • All children have the right to learn and play in an environment free from harm, bullying, discrimination, and abuse.
  • All NFA coaches, staff, volunteers, parents, and players share the responsibility to protect children and uphold these standards.

Responsibilities of Coaches, Staff, and Volunteers

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  • Avoid one-on-one interactions with a child in private settings; ensure another adult is present whenever possible.
  • Use positive coaching strategies based on encouragement, development, and respect.
  • Report any concerns about misconduct, abuse, or violations of this Code to NFA’s designated Child Protection Officer immediately.
  • Complete all required child protection and safe sport training approved by NFA or governing Canada Soccer.

Player Rights and Responsibilities

  • Every player has the right to a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
  • Players must show respect toward teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents.
  • Players should speak up and report any behaviors that makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable to a trusted adult or the Child Protection Officer.

Parental Responsibilities

  • Support your child with positivity while respecting coaches, referees, and academy staff.
  • Ensure safe transportation to and from NFA training sessions and games.
  • Report concerns regarding your child’s safety or well-being promptly to the academy.
  • Encourage open communication with your child regarding appropriate behavior and personal safety.

Prohibited Behaviors

  • Any form of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
  • Bullying, hazing, harassment, or discriminatory behavior.
  • Inappropriate physical contact or communication (including digital or social media interactions).
  • Failure to properly supervise children during NFA activities.

Reporting and Response Procedures

  • Any suspicion or concern of child abuse or misconduct must be reported immediately to NFA’s Child Protection Officer.
  • NFA will follow Canada Soccer’s guidelines and legal obligations for investigating and addressing concerns.
  • All reports will be handled confidentially, prioritizing the protection and well-being of the child.
  • When necessary, law enforcement or child protection agencies will be contacted.

Consequences for Violations

  • Individuals who violate this Code may face disciplinary actions, including suspension or removal from NFA activities.
  • Serious breaches will be reported to appropriate authorities and governing bodies.

Commitment to Ongoing Education and Improvement

  • NFA will provide continuous training for coaches, volunteers, and staff to support safe sport practices.
  • This Code of Conduct will be reviewed annually to ensure compliance with Canada Soccer best practices and updated policies.
